Arab League, Turkey condemn Israeli actions in Jerusalem and Gaza City

There are no two sides to the conflict. There is a fascist military occupying power that illegally uses the most destructive arms against an unarmed civilian population that is lashing out against this occupying power

In retaliation for Israeli attack on a residential tower in West Gaza, Hamas launched 130 rockets towards Tel Aviv. While there are no reported causalities in Hanadi tower, at least 80 Palestinian families have lost their homes. Israel’s provocative measures stirred tremendous Arab outrage; they are killing children, forcibly evicting people from their homes, and launching strikes on charity buildings and residential towers.

“There are no two sides to the conflict. There is a fascist military occupying power that illegally uses the most destructive arms against an unarmed civilian population that is lashing out against this occupying power,” Dr Mosheer Amer, associate professor of linguistics at the Islamic University of Gaza wrote.

The Zionist state has intensified its airstrikes on Gaza, whereas the tensions between Israeli settlers and Palestinians in Sheikh Jarrah have once again been left to fester. The Gaza Health Ministry reported that at least 28 Palestinians, including 10 children were martyred.

The Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, said, “At the conclusion of a situational assessment, it was decided that both the strength of the attacks and the frequency of the attacks will be increased.”
Jonathan Concicus, the Israeli army spokesman followed the same hostile rhetoric. “we have started, and I repeat started, to attack military targets in Gaza,” Concicus said.

While Turkey and other Muslim countries are showing support to the Palestinian cause, the so-called Western democracies are throwing their weight behind Israel. The United Nations (UN) said it’s deeply concerned about the situation. Palestinians are in serious need for real action; international condemnation is not enough.

President Joe Biden should act now. Attacking Iran for its nuclear program, but leaving Israel with no restrictions, further exposes the American double standards.

The International Red Committee (IRC) called on all parties involved in the conflict to de-escalate the violence. In fact, international organizations should show more solidarity with the Palestinians. It is not a “conflict”. Israel violated International Humanitarian Law (IHL) by launching indiscriminate attacks on civilians. Palestinians are acting out of defense; the sudden upsurge in Palestinian activism comes as a result of years of humiliation and oppression they have experienced.

“Israeli violations in Jerusalem, and the government’s tolerance of Jewish extremists hostile to Palestinians and Arabs, is what led to the ignition of the situation in this dangerous way,” Arab League chief Ahmed Aboul Gheit said in a statement.
The attacks in Gaza were a “miserable show of force at the expense of children’s blood,” Gheit said. Aboul Gheit called on the international community to act, saying continuing “Israeli provocations” were an affront to Muslims on the eve of the Eid holiday at the end of the holy month of Ramadan.

Palestinians are not victims of the apartheid state only, but also they bear the consequences of the prolonged rivalry between Hamas and Fatah. Hence, we call on all the Palestinian factions to temporarily halt their internal disputes to save the lives of the innocent Palestinians.
